There are many things that should be taken into consideration and performed before you start online advertising. You definitely do not want to simply jump in, not knowing what you are doing, and start advertising, or you could find that the entire scheme blows up in your face. The whole point of advertising online is to get your product, services, or company out to the internet world. However, before you can do that, you need to consider the following things.

Set Up Your Online Advertising Plan

You may be thinking; why on earth I would need an online advertising plan. A plan is crucial when it comes to any aspect of your business. Without a plan, you would simply jump in blind, not having any goals, objectives, or basically any idea what you intend to do, how long it will take you, and how much you have to spend with your advertising budget.

Your plan should consist of:

1. Your Advertising Budget – How much do you have or are you willing to spend on advertising online. This is crucial, because while some methods of advertisements are free, many are going to cost you, per click, per impression, or per advertisement. So before, you do anything else, create a budget, and understand how much you have to work with.

2. Identify your objectives of advertising online – What do you hope to gain through your advertisements? Do you need sales? Do you need traffic? Do you need referrals? After creating the budget, knowing your objectives is the second most important aspect of advertising online. If you do not know what you want to gain from the advertisements, how do you know when it is working?

3. Identify your targeted audience – Yet another crucial point in online advertising. You have to know whom you want to attract to your website. For example, are you looking to grab the attention of teenagers, middle-aged women, middle-aged men, young women, young men, the older generation, hobbyist, corporate minded folks, or those looking for business opportunities? Knowing whom you are targeting will help you in designing the right advertising campaign all the way around.

Online advertising may seem like it is a simple, easy to do, method of getting the word out about your products, services, or company. However, it is not as easy as it seems. There are many things that must come together before you can create an online advertising campaign that works. Look before you leap!

The success or failure of your Internet marketing business depends largely on the Internet users. If they are interested on the products and services that you are offering for sale, definitely you can expect hundreds to thousands of dollars in revenues from your online business. On the other hand, if they are just too lazy to hear what you want to say and what you are offering, better shut down your personal computer unit and find some other ways of earning money.

As an Internet marketer, you do not want the second scenario to happen to your Internet marketing career. To be the “exception to the rule”, you must attract more web visitors to your site and turn them into long-term clients and build a loyal clientele base. Once you have satisfied such requirements, expect that there is something in return positive returns, to be specific.

How will you say to Internet users that you need them to keep your online business alive? In fact, you need not to tell them straight to the point that you badly need them. All you need is a clever mind and some online advertising to get them without making them realize that you badly need them.

There are various online advertising methods on the Internet and each method has their product that works better on specific industries. There are huge numbers of individuals and companies operating online who wants to advertise what they have to offer, and there are also huge numbers of individuals and companies on the Internet who are willing to provide some advertising spaces. However, considering that the online advertising market is quite large, it will be inefficient for the advertisers as well as the providers of these online advertising spaces to individually meet and talk about the terms of conditions of advertising.

The individual or company who wish to advertise will certainly contact an online-based advertising company that are willing to provide the space that the advertiser needs as well as distribute their advertisements to different venues on the Internet at the same time.

The more benefits are now towards the online advertising firm. And you are considering an online advertising business.

But before you go, there are several things you need to consider first.

Start to gather a collection of websites or online companies that are willing to place advertisements on their sites. Select sites that are getting high web traffic every month. Once you have gathered advertising site venues, you may now start soliciting advertising clients. These advertisers will pay a certain amount of money that will commensurate with the exposure of their products or services on your advertising site venues. For instance, if you have contracted with 20 websites that are receiving an average of 200,000 web visitors every month, you can sell as much as 2,000,000 advertising exposures every month on each advertiser. In case that you have negotiated around 20 advertising venues on each website, you can sell an equivalent of 20 advertising clients with 2,000,000 advertising exposures every month. If an advertiser only pays for 1,000,000 advertising exposures, you can still sell the remaining 1,000,000 advertising exposures for a total of 11 advertising clients.

Now, what are the types of online advertising that you can offer? Here are some of the offerings that you can sell to individuals or companies who wish to advertise their products or services on the Internet.

Banner ads- these ads are typically pictorial ads that are commonly viewed on high-traffic sites and includes a hyperlink back to the advertiser’s own site. These are priced according to the number of ads shown. For instance, banner ads can be sold in lots of 250,000 impressions each.

Sponsorship ads- these ads are commonly larger than banner ads, which sometimes contain considerable amount of text. These are typically placed on high-traffic areas such as ezines or online newsletters. It is priced according to the number of readers of the newsletter or publication in which the ad is placed.

Pay per click (PPC) ads- these ads are priced according to the number of clicks generated through site visitors, These are commonly text ads, though there are PPC ads that are pictorial-based.

Starting your own online advertising business is another opportunity of earning more money on the Internet marketing industry.

I’m almost tempted to tell people, whatever they want to spend. But I realize that there are those of us new to this game who don’t really know what the various costs of advertising on the Internet can be. While this article is no way all inclusive, as there are just too many ways to advertise online, it should give you a good head start to Internet advertising costs for the most common forms of advertising.

Since most people are really looking for free sources of advertising, let me start off with those first.

If you are looking for advertising avenues that won’t cost you anything and still bring you some results, your best bet is to go with article marketing. Article marketing, in theory, is very simple. You write articles that pertain to your target market and product, submit them to article directories and bring traffic to your site through the link in the article that you’ll include in your author bio. This method is very effective if done right and as I said, it doesn’t cost you a thing. The only drawback is that this form of advertising is relatively slow to bring results.

If you’re looking to actually spend some money and get results a little faster, one of the most cost effective ways is to host your own FFA site. You can do this for as little as a month. What hosting an FFA site does is it allows you to send out your daily advertising message to people who post their own ads to your site. This is a great way to reach other people who are involved in Internet marketing. This is a very cost effective way of advertising as you can host about 10 sites a month for under 0.

If you’re looking to spend a little more money and get the most targeted traffic that you can get online, your best bet is to go with Google Adwords. In a nutshell, Adwords is a system of advertising where you put up a 3 line ad based on certain keywords that you want to target and pay for this ad only if a person clicks on it and goes to your site. The amount you pay per click will depend on how targeted the keyword is and the competition for that keyword. For the most part, the most expensive keywords, per click, are those for make money online opportunities.

Like any other business process involves some kind of advertisement to make people know about your presence and business process, online marketing also needs effective advertising strategy to make Web traffic aware of ones online presence.

When you enter the Web world to look out for any information, you might have noticed the number of small images, texts, video and audio clips that appear in the Web page. Not only this, you receive list of emails not from your intimate friends but from various companies who send such mails to advertise their products and services.

Legitimate online advertising involves search engine advertising, advertising networks and opt-in e-mail, whereas, illegitimate online advertisement is done through spamming.

Let us discuss in brief both legitimate and illegitimate face of online advertising-

In this case, there is consent of willingness of mail acceptance between customers and advertiser. Although, such process helps website owners keep updating their customers regularly regarding new products/services or any new added features.

Illegitimate online advertising involves spamming, which refers to sending unsolicited email, instant messages, mobile messages to people who are not the willing recipient of such mail and messages. Spammers often harvest users address from Usenet postings, DNS listings, Web pages and by a unique way of guessing common names under each domain which is known as dictionary attack. Spammers also use Web spiders to find e-mail address on Web pages.

But, to achieve a long lasting advertising effect, one should never follow illegitimate methods, rather should always follow fair way of advertising. People often feel irritated if they are provided spam advertisements, but they obviously paid fair amount of attention to view and understand the advertisements presented in a graceful manner.

Pay per click advertising works by allowing an advertiser to put his ads on websites or in the paid listing in the search engines like Google or Yahoo! When interested users in the internet click on their ads, they have to pay the website owner or the search engines the agreed cost of a click. If you are a website owner, that would mean earning from these ads every time online readers get interested with it and click it. As it is called pay per click, advertisers will pay you per click. 

Many websites online have made use of this advertising technique not only to sell their products but also to make money out of it. Even if you are not maintaining a website that is selling something, or even if what you have is a blog, you can still benefit and earn from pay per click. 

Pay per click internet marketing may sound simple and easy. In a way, it is but there are things that you need to work out if you are serious about making money from your blogs or your website, but once you get everything done, you may just let your website make money for you. 

Well, you might wonder how you would get advertisers to post their ads in your site. In pay per click internet advertising, and in any internet advertising available online, traffic is the key. If you already have your website, you will have to work on attracting as many online site visitors. The volume of traffic coming to your website will give you higher chances of getting clicks to the ads that you will eventually place in your site. This will make your website inviting to advertisers. 

So how then would you be able to attract visitors? The simpler ways could include joining social networking sites where you can join groups that would likely be interested in the niche of your website, or you can also participate in forums where you can provide helpful inputs and possibly bring some forum participants into your site. Although these techniques are available and free, it may take time before you get the desired volume of traffic. 

One effective technique though is to engage in pay per click internet advertising as well. Most website owners advertise their sites in pay per click so they will in turn get more advertisers. One consideration of course is to make sure you are not spending more than what your site is earning. Advertising your site using pay per click can be done in Google AdWords, or advertise it on other websites. 

If you choose to advertise your site in other websites, it is important to keep in mind that you cannot just advertise on any website. Choose the website that is relevant to yours. This way, you will be getting online visitors who are also interested in the contents of your website, and of your ads most especially. 

High volume of traffic flowing to your website from your PPC ads will itself draw the attention of advertisers to put their ads on your site. You can also join other moneymaking opportunities like affiliate marketing, or you can even sell an ad space directly to advertisers, which is one profitable option aside from pay per click internet advertising.
